Timothy Leary

Timothy Leary, psychologist, and advocate of using psychedelic drugs under controlled conditions, was the focus of the 1968 Moody Blues song, Legend of a Mind, that began, "Timothy Leary's dead. No, no, he's outside looking in." The 1968 song was nearly 30 years premature. Leary actually passed away on May 31, 1996.

Locally, the Moody Blues played at the Gorge Amphitheater on May 18, 1996, and were accompanied by the Spokane Symphony.

Sadly the vocalist featured in Legend of a Mind, Ray Thomas, past away on January 4th, 2018. Thomas was a well-respected flautist (the British way to spell it). We will miss his full voice. Listen to the original (above) or listen to the  Moody Blues performance at Red Rocks in 2007 (below).
