The year 1984 was famous for a number of monumental works in addition to Orwell's book, 1984. That year, Prince and The Revolution released the Purple Rain album, the soundtrack to the movie of the same name. Speaking of George Orwell, today would've been his 116th birthday. Caddyshack became a mainstay in American Comedy with its release in 1980.
